About Us

BROOKS, TORREY & SCOTT, INC., (BTS) a real estate investment and management company, was founded in 1946 by B.V. Brooks Sr. B.V. Brooks Jr. took over as President in the 1960’s and served in that capacity until his death in 2011. He was formerly associated with Brooks Community Newspapers, publisher of local newspapers in Westport, Fairfield, Darien and Greenwich. His sons Torrey and Scott joined the firm in the 1980’s and now serve as its Chairman and President.

For over a half-century, its focus and that of its affiliated companies, has been the acquisition and development of neighborhood and community shopping centers. All of these properties are owned by the Brooks family and its occasional partners, through a number of owning entities.

Locations include Westport, Fairfield and Milford in Connecticut, New York City, Long Island and central South Carolina.

The Westport properties include Brooks Corner, Sconset Square, Westfair Shopping Center and Compo Shopping Center.

Management of the entire portfolio is handled professionally in house by principals of BTS, a staff of seven, and a group of time-tested outside vendors in numerous trades.

Torrey Brooks holds an MBA from Stanford Business School, an BA from Dartmouth and also CCIM and CPM designations and is listed in Marquis Who’s Who in America. Scott Brooks, also a graduate of Dartmouth, is on the Board of Directors for The Bank of Fairfield and is head of its loan committee.
