About Us
The Westport Young Woman's League ''WYWL'', established in 1956, is a non-profit philanthropic organization of women committed to promoting a sense of community through volunteerism, social activities and fundraising for local charities.
Since its inception, WYWL has donated over $4 million with over half that amount donated in the past decade alone. Membership is open to all women who are over the age of 21. The WYWL offers many opportunities for members to be involved. Members participate in fundraising through the WYWL Minute Man Race and CraftWestport, volunteer in the community by cooking for the Community Kitchen (based at the homeless shelter in Westport), and help with the Christmas store at the Raphola Taylor Center (an after school program for children in Bridgeport). There really is something for everyone.
We have found that involvement in these worthy efforts leads to a sense of great accomplishment and satisfaction in making a difference in someone else's life and shaping our community. Of course, all work and no play makes for a dull League, so while you're helping the community, take the opportunity to make some new friends and take advantage of our social activities.
